As said by cat experts, it is the cat who chooses or owns us, not the other way around. He seems to have chosen my youngest son because Higgy loves to follow him most of the time. As their symbol of friendship my son bought Higgy a tan collar made from soft leatherette.
The cat did not like it, even if it's loosened, but have tolerated wearing it for the sake of conformity. A few weeks later, my son decided to remove the collar, but to our surprise, the fur behind the collar was partly damaged. It did not look nice at all. There was this ugly ring of shortened fur around his neck. We later learned our lesson that there are good and bad cat collars.
The cheap ones made of leatherette are not good at all. The fur grew back to its normal state but we no longer let Higgy wear another cat collar. He's happier without it.
