Two of the most popular ways to cook popcorn is by using the microwave oven and stove top cooking. So, what is the difference between the two?
Before there were popcorn machines and microwave popcorn, the corn kernels were cooked in pans on the stove often using cooking oil or butter. This is perhaps the cheapest way to have popcorn. Stove top cooking can also make the fluffiest popcorn but not necessarily the crispiest ones. The problem with this method is that the moisture is trapped inside the pan which lessens the crispiness of the popped kernels. Cooking stove top popcorn also requires you to keep shaking the pan, thus you can't leave it cooking by itself.
