In many big malls in the Philippines, a branch or two of Japan Home Centre can be found. It is a store where items are priced either at Php 88, Php 66, or Php 200. We often take a detour to this shop whenever we go to the mall to buy some for groceries. It's a mini department store in itself where one can find almost anything from kitchen gadgets to hardware items, school supplies to craft and art supplies, plastic organizers to chairs, from bath and beauty products to food, and some unique knick knacks made from Japan (or China).
In other countries this can be the counterpart of a dollar store, except that not everything is worth a dollar here. Having a unified price for their items makes it easier for the shoppers to compute their purchases.
The items we often buy from Japan Home are plastic organizers, craft materials, bath items, house slippers, and chairs.
What I like most about this store, aside from the unified prices is the ambiance and the comfortable shopping experience their offer. Even with the many products on display, there seems to be a zen-like character in the arrangement of their merchandise. There is enough space to move around. Two-way foot traffic is very possible in every aisle.
I am one of the many satisfied customers of Japan Home Center and if they will maintain their quality of merchandise and service, they will definitely stay in the business for many years to come.
